- South Carolina Republicans propose redistricting to dismantle James Clyburn's congressional district — South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster called a special legislative session to consider a proposal to redraw the state's sixth congressional district, currently represented by Democrat James Clyburn, the state's only Black Democratic congressman since 1897. The effort follows Trump's urging of Republican lawmakers to redismantle the district after the U.S. Supreme Court gutted key protections in the Voting Rights Act. An earlier redistricting effort stalled on Tuesday, but the special session began Friday. Clyburn characterized the plan as "Jim Crow 2.0" and vowed to run regardless.
