- Federal Judge Ellis finds Border Patrol Chief Bovino lied under oath about assault by protester — U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis in Chicago ruled that Gregory Bovino, Border Patrol chief, lied when he and the Department of Homeland Security claimed he had been struck in the head by a rock before throwing a tear gas canister at protesters on October 28. Video evidence showed Bovino was not hit until after he threw the tear gas, violating her earlier temporary restraining order limiting use of force. Bovino ultimately admitted he was not hit until after deploying the tear gas.
