- ICE transfers detained LA teen to Arizona without family notification — Benjamin Guerrero-Cruz, 18, was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles on August 8 while walking his dog. He was held at Adelanto detention facility in San Bernardino County, then transferred late Monday to a remote holding site in Arizona without notifying his family. ICE subsequently prepared to send him to Louisiana for deportation processing but removed him from the plane at the last moment. He remains in custody at Adelanto. Congresswoman Luz Rivas introduced legislation requiring ICE to notify detainees' families within 24 hours of transfer.
