- Trump administration removed slavery exhibit from Independence National Historical Park — On February 1, 2026, government officials under the Trump administration removed an exhibit on enslavement from Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia. The exhibit had acknowledged nine people enslaved at the President's House Site during George Washington's residence there and examined "the paradox between slavery and freedom in the founding of the nation." The removal followed Trump's March 2025 order directing national historic sites to "focus on the greatness of the achievements and progress of the American people" and calling out the park for promoting "corrosive ideology" and teaching that "America is purportedly racist."
