- RFK Jr's remade vaccine panel votes to restrict thimerosal in flu shots — Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr unilaterally fired all 17 members of the CDC's Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) in June 2025 and appointed eight ideological allies. On 26 June, the reconstituted panel voted 5–1–1 to recommend against thimerosal, a preservative used in about 5% of multidose flu vaccine vials, despite decades of scientific evidence showing no real-world harm. The decision bypassed a CDC career scientist presentation on thimerosal safety and instead featured a presentation from an anti-vaccine advocate whose work contained a fabricated study reference.
